The Global Politics course aims to develop international-mindedness in students through an examination of fundamental political concepts that have global significance. It also enables students to reach an awareness and appreciation of both their own civic responsibility at a local level and their shared responsibility as citizens of an increasingly interconnected world.
An interest in and curiosity about the international politics GCSE or equivalent IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
Formal internal assessments take place once every half term and homework is set on a regular basis. Grades are determined by three components: two examined modules and an Engagement Activity (or Non-Examined Assessment) in the form of written report. Final examinations take place in May at the end of the 2-year course. HL students complete an additional non-examined assessment in the form of two oral presentations on Global Political Challenges. An end of year exam must be passed for entry to year 2 and a mock exam must be passed for entry into the public exams.
