The course also covers research methods and you will have the opportunity to carry out your own piece of contemporary research. In the Upper Sixth there is the opportunity to develop an understanding of schizophrenia, relationships and aggression as well as overarching topics in psychology such as the ʻNature and Nurture’ debate and whether with are predestined to behave in specific ways or if we simply react to the situations we find ourselves in. The Psychology course is popular because it consistently allows students to reflect on their own behaviour and gives them insight into their previous experiences, as well as what has affected their personality and temperament. As a result, students become more self-aware and socially agile as they enter adulthood.
