The GCSE music course is open to anyone on approximately Grade 3 or above on voice or their instrument and has, or is working towards, Grade 5 Theory. The course is focused on three components: Performing, Composing and Appraising/Listening.
All applicants are invited to attend our assessment day, during which they will sit entrance papers in Maths and English, followed by an online assessment and interview with the Principal. As part of the 13+ assessment, candidates will sit a further paper in a subject of their choice. Other scholarships (eg., art, sport, music, drama) will also be taken at this time.
Much of the qualification is based on practical and composition work - this counts for 60% which will be completed over the two years and is internally assessed and externally moderated. The listening exam counts for 40% which takes place at the end of the course.
