The Photography Department offers an environment that fuels your thirst for exploring the photographic image. Photography A-Level encourages you to express your individual creativity, whilst honing your technical ability, visual analysis, post-production skills and attention to detail. The Photography course enables you to learn techniques from a range of photographers, disciplines and themes and will cement your knowledge of the camera to allow you to capture and communicate exactly what you desire. You will also learn IT skills including Photoshop and the possibility of video production. Our photography classroom remains open well beyond the timetabled day, enabling you to further pursue your editing skills and ideas outside of allotted class time. In addition to this we have a dedicated photography studio space that includes a range of backdrops, lights and filters, allowing students to experience and develop their own professional-level studio photography. This is all further enhanced by the international trip that we run for 6th form Art and Photography students, numbers permitting. This trip allows students to discover and visit world leading photography museums and to photograph and explore some of the cultural centres of the world. This offers both a hugely valuable addition to your coursework project as well as a personal experience that you will remember for a lifetime.
Entry to Rendcomb College Sixth Form requires you to have achieved five grades 4 - 9 at GCSE with a grade 6 in each subject studied at A Level. For Mathematics and Science, we recommend you have a grade 7 at GCSE. You must also achieve grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language/Literature and Maths or you will be supported to re-sit.
