IB students explore five topics of Identity, Experience, Human Intelligence, Social Organisation and the Environment. Students have the freedom, under the guidance of their teachers, to pursue a vast range of topics. While studying those topics, you will learn to develop your speaking and writing styles and registers to suit different types of audiences or readers. Higher level students will also study a minimum of 2 pieces of literature. The new assessment consists of two reading comprehension and writing papers at the end of the year, and an individual speaking examination in March / April, for which students prepare in one-to-one lessons. The French A course is self-taught and would appeal to students whose first language is French and enjoy reading. They will study a varied selection of French literary works, complemented by works of representative authors of World Literature in French translation.
Each of the six subjects is marked out of 7 (maximum of 42 points).
