You will benefit from conversation classes with a French/Spanish assistant. What will I study during the course? You will learn about different aspects of Spanish/French culture and film. You will develop an understanding of the language, the countries where it is spoken and the people who speak it. French & Spanish students will study: • changing family structures, The world of work and education; • music media, festivals and traditions; a film; • the Occupation and Resistance (French); the Franco dictatorship and transition to democracy (Spanish); a book.
You need a minimum of a 6 / B grade at GCSE French or Spanish. To take this subject in the Sixth Form, you should have a lively and enquiring mind, a genuine interest in the language and the culture/society of France and/ or Spain. A willingness to explore new ideas and discuss issues is important, as is the ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
