The course introduces the processes, skills and concepts used in Textile Design. The emphasis is on the expressive and creative use of materials to create exciting textile based art work. Initially students are taught both traditional and contemporary techniques including silk screen printing, batik, felt making, hand-dyeing, heat manipulation and other constructed textile methods.
Offers of places are made by the Headmaster and are usually conditional upon the candidate achieving at least 6 subjects at GCSE at Grade 6 or above. Candidates must obtain a GCSE Grade 6 or above in English Language and Mathematics. Candidates will normally be expected to have achieved at least a Grade 7 in the subjects they wish to study at A-Level, and the offer of a place is made subject to the School’s judgement of a candidate’s ability to benefit from the education offered in the Sixth Form. A minimum of grade 6 at GCSE is desirable, although not essential.
