Course summary

Music Technology A-Level covers the study of a wide range of popular music styles and provides a deep understanding of the impact of technology on music and the industry. Students studying music technology in the Sixth Form are privileged to spend four hours a week in our school studio, working with the programme Logic X on Apple Mac. Through this work they learn how record to a high standard, edit and manipulate sound, sequence MIDI and produce digital sound. This course is for students who are truly passionate about music. GCSE Music is an essential pre-requisite, as is experience of music theory and grade 3 standard or above on an instrument/voice.

Entry requirements

To meet our Sixth Form entry requirements, applicants must have attained at least a grade 5 in both English Language and Mathematics, and have a “Best 8” GCSE points score of at least 48 points with at least a grade 6 in the subjects chosen or in a related discipline.
