You will study a variety of different topics including Education with Theory and Methods in context; Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods; Topics in Sociology including Families and Households and The Media. You will also be introduced to a variety of different Sociological Theories and Perspectives and sociological explanations for each of the topics covered.
The normal expectation for entry to our Sixth Form is six Grades 9 - 5 or equivalent at GCSE, but we do consider all applications on an individual basis, so if you have any concerns about meeting these grades please come and speak to Mrs C L Wheeler or Mr Smith, our Assistant Principal (Academic). No prior knowledge of Sociology is necessary. It is suggested, however, that candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills equivalent to those required to gain a good grade in GCSE English.
