Course summary

The course involves performing, composing, listening to and appraising music. You will improve your skills as a performer and composer studying both classical and popular styles of music. Our exam board has been chosen as it offers a great deal of flexibility in terms of subject content and is the only board to offer a live recital option.

Entry requirements

Our usual entry requirement is a GCSE Level 7 or higher in the subject that you wish to study coupled with a raft of GCSE Level 6 and above results. If you wish to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths then a Level 7 or higher is required.

How you'll be assessed

The student chooses the weighting for performance and composition according to their own strengths and interests. Compositions are written during lessons and are assessed externally. The recital is performed to a visiting examiner. There is one written examination for the listening and appraisal part of the course.
