Economics is a dynamic, multidimensional subject that is continually evolving. It is a social science that studies how households, firms and governments make choices and how these choices impact our everyday lives. Students will explore big questions such as: what are the solutions to climate change, should economies always pursue economic growth as their main objective and what determines the price of housing. We aim to enrich our students beyond the syllabus through a variety of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. This includes our student-run Economics and Business lunchtime society where both students and guest speakers deliver talks. In addition to this, we enter a number of national competitions and publish an annual journal. Economics is one of the most diverse subjects to study at A Level and at university as it is a balance of both the arts and the sciences. It is also one of the most competitive degrees to pursue. Typical careers with an Economics degree include, but are not limited to: policy making, research, diplomacy, academia, consulting, business, finance and accounting.
We would normally expect a grade 7 or above in Mathematics.
