Course summary

This qualification emphasises practical creativity alongside research and theoretical understanding. Students learn through experience, seeing theatre and making theatre for themselves. Students are introduced to a wide range of theatrical styles and contexts as they explore plays practically, devise and work on performances.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE grade 6. You will need skills in two different areas: practical and theoretical. Not only do you need to enjoy reading, and be able to write essays, but you also need a commitment to live theatre and a capacity to work collaboratively with your peers, on the practical elements of the course.

How you'll be assessed

Component 1Component 3: Text in Performance Written examination: 2 hour 30 minutes 40% of qualification : Theatre Workshop - Non-exam assessment: internally assessed, externally moderated 20% of qualification. Component 2: Text in Action - Non-exam assessment: externally assessed by a visiting examiner 40% of qualification. Component 3: Text in Performance Written examination: 2 hour 30 minutes 40% of qualification.
