A level Geography gives pupils the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of physical and human Geography, the complexity of people and environmental questions and issues, and to become critical, reflective and independent learners. The course offers and issue-based approach to studying Geography, which allows pupils to debate, explore and evaluate contemporary geographical questions and issues such as the consequences of globalisation, responses to hazards, water insecurity and climate change. In each area of the A Level, the pupils will consider the attitudes and actions of decision makers, consider their own values and attitudes to the issues being studied and support their learning of ideas through the study of specific case studies. Pupils also develop a variety of geographical skills through fieldwork which will broaden and deepen existing knowledge and be employed with a greater degree of independence in their learning.
