Course summary

The best foundation for success in A Level Fine Art is experience gained through the completion of GCSE Art & Design but, above all, an interest in creating an understanding of visual art, coupled with the determination to develop your interest. The main purpose of this course is to extend your ability to appreciate the visual world and respond in a personal and creative way. The disciplines most frequently associated with Fine Art are painting, 3D, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. The skills you will develop will be varied and will include a working knowledge of materials and practices within Fine Art, as well as key skills of communication to interpret and convey your ideas and feelings. You will expand your imaginative and creative ideas and your experimental, analytical and documenting skills. You will use specialist vocabulary, and also gain knowledge and understanding of the place that Fine Art holds in history and in contemporary society
