Course summary

The main reason for studying Mathematics to an advanced level is that it is interesting and enjoyable. People like its challenge, its clarity, and the fact that you know when you are right. The solution of a problem has an excitement and a satisfaction. “The mathematician does not study Pure Mathematics because it is useful, he studies it because he delights in it, and he delights in it because it is beautiful.”

Entry requirements

Students must normally have achieved a grade 7 or above in GCSE Mathematics. It is important that students have covered the full range of topics required at Higher Tier GCSE.

How you'll be assessed

There are three units and each unit examination lasts 2 hours and is worth 301/3% of the course.
