Fine Art A Level is a suitable choice for students who enjoy creative activity as well as appreciating of the work of others. Students must be committed and curious, approaching the subject with an open mind and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ability to take on board the advice and constructive criticism of their teachers is vital. This is a challenging course both practically and intellectually, fully recognized by universities as being on an equal footing with more explicitly academic subjects.
Ordinarily at least a grade 6 in GCSE Art is required to take the A Level. If Art has not been studied at GCSE, students must submit a personal portfolio and discuss with the Head of Art before opting for the course. Fine Art as a subject can complement most other subjects.
