In addition to the generously allocated teaching time, we offer regular clinics and targeted revision sessions. Our extracurricular activities programme affords pupils the opportunity to take part in authentic scientific research. Whilst our new purpose built Science building will offer state of the art facilities, we are also fortunate to have access to our extensive school grounds, including the pond, for ecology activities. We make good use of facilities in the wider area, with recent fieldwork trips being taken to Wildwood Trust in Canterbury, medical conferences in London and locaI lectures. Pupils also have the opportunity to take part in the annual British Biology Olympiad as well as action-packed series of events in National Biology Week, including dissections and workshops. Biology A Level is a natural precursor for many university courses including medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry and biologicaI sciences, but it is also suitable for pupils who wish to develop transferable analyticaI and problem-solving skilIs that are sought after by so many employers in the scientific industry and beyond.
We advise pupils to take this subject only if they have achieved a minimum grade 6 in GCSE Biology and Chemistry or grade 8 in GCSE Combined Science, as well as a minimum grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics. This subject combines well with Chemistry A Level.
