Course summary

Language has an impact on the daily lives of members of any race, creed and region of the world. The ability to communicate in multiple languages is becoming more important in the increasingly global business community. Students who study French A level will have a unique opportunity to explore the French-speaking world, taking a journey through the French language and culture whilst developing confident, effective communication skills. During this course, you will study the following: • Aspects of French-speaking society and current trends • Artistic culture in the French-speaking world • Current issues and positive features of a diverse society • Aspects of political life in the French-speaking world Students will have additional weekly sessions for speaking practice. They may also be given the opportunity to take part in an exchange with France.

Entry requirements

At least Grade 6 in GCSE French.

• Exam 1 – Listening, Reading and Writing (50%) • Exam 2 – Writing (20%) • Paper 3 – Speaking (30%)
