Course summary

Students who study Spanish A level will have a unique opportunity to explore the Spanish-speaking world, taking a journey through the Spanish language and culture whilst developing confident, effective communication skills. Students will develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation skills through a variety of classroom-based and independent learning activities and will study a film and a work of literature from the Hispanic world. Students will study different aspects of Hispanic culture, such as aspects of Hispanic society, the Monarchy, political life and Spanish texts and films. As part of the speaking assessment, students will carry out an independent research project where they will have the chance to study an area of personal interest related to a Spanish-speaking country or community. Students will have regular sessions with our native-speaking assistant to practise their language skills.

Entry requirements

At least Grade 6 in GCSE Spanish.
