Course summary

By studying Classical Civilisation, you will gain cultural capital, the ability to analyse sources (texts and artefacts) and the confidence to evaluate information in context. You will also develop excellent essay writing skills and gain an introduction to scholarship for university writing. Classical Civilisation is the study of ancient Greece and Rome. We will study modules that cover some art, history and literature. Students must study a component from Greek Theatre. This involves the study of visual and material culture. Students will study love and relationships. This study will involve an area of classical thought in combination with either the study of literature in translation or visual and material culture.

Entry requirements

Students should have a good strength in English and History. Latin is a bonus, but not required.
