Course summary

The IB now offers two Mathematics courses, Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretations. Analysis and Approaches. This is a more Pure Maths based course and is designed for students who enjoy developing their mathematics to become fluent in the construction of mathematical arguments and to develop strong skills in mathematical thinking. They will enjoy the thrill of mathematical problem solving and generalisation, as well as topics that are amenable to investigation, conjecture and proof. Applications and Interpretations. This course is a more Applied based Maths course and is designed for students who are interested in developing their mathematics for describing our world, modelling, and solving practical problems using the power of technology. Students who take this course will be those who enjoy mathematics best when seen in a practical context.
