The Extended Studies department includes a wide variety of subjects, including the EPQ in Year 12 and a choice of courses in Year 13. Students considering transfer to King’s Sixth Form are required to meet the entry requirements of an average of grade 6 or higher across eight GCSE subjects, with a minimum of a grade 5 in both Mathematics and English Language (university matriculation requirements). Most subjects recommend a grade 7 - 9 in a subject to be studied at A Level, and this is compulsory for Mathematics and Science subjects. In addition, subjects with a large mathematical content, such as Economics, require a minimum of grade 7 in Mathematics.
