The study of Economics should enable students to understand better the current economic issues that affect their lives. The subject matter ranges from the environment to the labour market, from unemployment to multinational companies, from inflation to the exchange rate. These issues are examined primarily in terms of the UK economy, but also encompass the UK’s rights and responsibilities as a member of the global economy. A number of our students are minded to pursue Economics and business-based courses at university as a consequence of exposure to the A Level course. The department is housed in spacious classrooms adjacent to the main school building and a discursive approach to the subject is ensured by pegging class sizes at reasonable numbers.
Minimum course requirement is Level 6 in GCSE Mathematics.
