Course summary

Computer Science is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to realworld systems. It is an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement, and can look at the natural world through a digital prism. The course will give students the opportunity to learn computational thinking, design systems, help to develop the skills to solve problems and understand the power and limits of both human and machine intelligence.

Entry requirements

In addition to passing our Entrance Examinations, offers are conditional on achieving a minimum of six 9-6 grades at GCSE (or equivalent), including in the subjects to be studied at A Level, where applicable: please see individual subject entry grades on pages 13-61 for subject-specific entry requirements. Girls without these grades may be admitted subject to discussion with the Senior Deputy Head, Director of Sixth Form and the Head. Most of our Sixth Formers follow a 3 A Level programme. Students who would benefit from the opportunity for further stretch and variety are supported to follow a 4 A Level programme. Alongside their 3 or 4 A Levels, girls will also have the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which equates to half an A Level.
