Students need to have an enquiring mind, an interest in the past and its relevance to current affairs and the ability to communicate their ideas effectively. Those students who have studied History GCSE will find that the skills they have learned will be developed to a higher level, although it is not necessarily a requirement to have studied History at GCSE in order to embark on the A Level course; aptitude and interest in the subject are, of course, expected. Typically, GCSE students will have achieved at least a Grade 6 before embarking on the A Level course.
