A Level chemistry serves the needs of a wide range of students. The course contains the following broad objectives: • To develop and use practical techniques to investigate chemistry. • To observe and use trends in the behaviour of substances. • To solve chemical problems using mathematical techniques. • To solve chemical problems using concepts. • To study the application of chemistry in selected fields, together with its social and economic aspects.
The GCE specification builds upon the knowledge gained in the GCSE Chemistry course. Students require a minimum of 7:7 in GCSE Combined Science or a Grade 7 in GCSE Chemistry and also a Grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics before embarking on the course.
