The content of the curriculum is always linked to context, the outside world and is interdisciplinary in nature. It helps students become creative problem solvers as individuals and a member of a team, by equipping them with transferable hard and soft skills; such as empathy and the iterative design process to tackling todays and tomorrow’s global problems. Furthermore, it develops confidence through individual curiosity, experimentation and having fun.
Pupils are expected to have taken Design & Technology at GCSE level. If not, then, in exceptional circumstances, pupils will be asked to submit a portfolio of work to showcase their design capabilities. It is also beneficial to study Maths in combination with this course.
