Computer Science is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to real-world systems. It is an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement, and can look at the natural world through a digital prism. Computational thinking helps students to develop the skill to solve problems, design systems and understand the power and limits of human and machine intelligence.
Successful 16+ candidates will usually receive an offer of a place conditional on their performance at the assessment day. The school expects applicants for the Sixth Form to achieve a grade 7 (A) or higher in the subjects they wish to study at A Level and an overall grade profile of at least four grade 7s (A) and no other grades lower than a 6 (B) at GCSE. Candidates should also have demonstrated an excellent attitude to work, and a willingness to contribute to the life of the school.
