Product Design is a very exciting course that will stretch the student’s ability to think critically about design and how consumers interact with products. The course is both practical and theoretical so that students will understand the whole design process. There is a big emphasis on sustainability and materials which inform many design decisions. Students that study Product Design at A Level regularly go on to study design-based courses at university including architecture, product design & engineering.
Successful 16+ candidates will usually receive an offer of a place conditional on their performance at the assessment day. The school expects applicants for the Sixth Form to achieve a grade 7 (A) or higher in the subjects they wish to study at A Level and an overall grade profile of at least four grade 7s (A) and no other grades lower than a 6 (B) at GCSE. Candidates should also have demonstrated an excellent attitude to work, and a willingness to contribute to the life of the school.
