If you are inspired by the ancient past of Greece and Rome, then you will be fascinated by A-Level Classical Civilisation. By studying this subject, you will acquire an excellent understanding and knowledge of all social, political and literary areas of the classical period. This course, which is a blend of history, literature and drama, will take you on the exciting adventures of Odysseus and Aeneas to the courtrooms and the assembly in Classical Athens, from the glory of Augustus’ regime to the genesis of Greek theatre and democracy, from the political satire of Greek comedy, to the tragic stories of Oedipus and Medea.
Pupils should have achieved five subjects at Grade 6 or above, including either Maths and/or English at Grade 6. They should also have reached a minimum Grade 6 in the subject they want to study at A level. All students wishing to join the Sixth Form should be registered by the Autumn Term before the proposed year of entry.
