Course summary

Units covered: Module one: Development of practical skills in Biology Module two: Foundations in Biology Module three: Exchange and transport Module four: Biodiversity, evolution and disease In Year 13, the students will study two further modules Module five: Communication, homeostasis and energy Module six: Genetics, evolution and ecosystems. Modules one to six will be examined in three exam papers to be taken at the end of the course.

Entry requirements

You should have achieved at least a Grade 7 at GCSE Biology and a Grade 6 or higher in GCSE Mathematics. Students taking Combined Science GCSE should have at least Grade 7-7

How you'll be assessed

Students will be required to take three formal written papers at the end of the A Level course. The style of questions in these assessments will comprise a mixture of multiple choice, structured questions and extended written response questions covering both theory and knowledge of practical techniques.
