Design Technology alongside Maths and Sciences gives you the skills you need for employment in key growth sectors like Advanced Manufacturing, Design, Engineering and Creative industries. It is a subject where you have to make decisions, plan and predict, design creative and innovative solutions to problems, evaluate and assess the consequences of your decisions. Design Technology stretches and challenges you and makes you think creatively about many key issues which affect people’s lives. It will hopefully inspire you to follow a career in areas which are vital for the future of our country or perhaps to be an entrepreneur who designs and makes products that people want.
Entry to Year 12 is dependent on performance in the GCSE examinations. To follow a full programme of A Level AS and A2 study, good passes (grade 5 and above) are required in five subjects at GCSE, with a recommendation of at least a grade 6 in those subjects that students wish to study.
