The Biology A Level OCR specification has been designed so that Year 12 and Year 13 are co-teachable. The course is delivered using a combination of teaching approaches. The practical endorsements are delivered where relevant to the course content and are examined through the questions set in all three written papers. Candidates completing Year 12 only will be examined at the end of the first year of the course. Year 13 candidates will sit all of the three written papers at the end of the second year of the course. The factual content of the Biology course is high; pupils wishing to study Biology need to consider carefully their aptitude for factual learning that can then be applied to the data interpretation questions that form the bulk of the written papers.
Our normal minimum requirements for entry into the Sixth Form are at least five GCSEs at Grade 6 and above, with Grade 7 in those subjects wished to be studied at A Level. An interview with a member of the Senior Leadership Team would normally form part of the selection process.
