Psychology is defined as the science of mind and behaviour. You will learn answers to questions like: Why do I think like this? Why do others behave like this? It will enable you to objectively understand the nature and experience of the human world around you, based on scientific research and theory. The course is split into 3 sections: Introductory Topics in Psychology Social Influence, Attachment, Memory and Psychopathology. Psychology in context Approaches, Biopsychology and Research Methods. Issues and Options in Psychology; Gender, Schizophrenia and Addiction.
King's welcomes applications for admission to the 6th Form. We have a significant post-GCSE entry into our 6th Form and places are offered based on an interview and references from the candidate's current school. Candidates are expected to gain at least a 4/5 or 6 in each subject they hope to study at A Level and overall a minimum of 5 GCSEs with at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 4. Candidates applying to study BTECS will be offered places after interviews with the Deputy Head Academic and the Headmaster.
Assessment is through 3 examination papers. The papers include multiple choice, short answer and extended writing questions.
