This course will enable you to become confident in the language. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the language, culture and society of German-speaking countries. You will also study two literary texts in depth. You will also have the opportunity to carry out an individual research project on an aspect of Germanic culture. We teach in small groups at this level and the lessons are conducted mainly in German. You will also have one-to-one sessions with the native speaker German assistant. The AQA Advanced Level in German consists of two externally examined papers assessing Listening, Reading and Writing and a Speaking assessment. The Speaking assessment is externally set and conducted by an external teacher-examiner. All assessments are marked by AQA. Students must complete their speaking assessment during a timetabled assessment window in April/May and all other assessments take place in June of the same year
• GCSE Maths: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • GCSE English or English Language: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • A Level subjects: You must achieve a grade 7, 8, or 9 in your chosen A Level subjects. For some subjects, a minimum of grade 8 or 9 is required (see below) We would like students to have achieved grade 7 – 9 in GCSE German
