Course summary

This course will help you to become confident in interacting with users of Spanish. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the language, culture and society of Spanish - speaking countries, engaging critically with stimulating texts and films. You will also have the chance to carry out an individual research project on an aspect of Hispanic culture. We teach in small groups at A level and the lessons are conducted primarily in Spanish. You will also have one-to-one sessions with the language assistant and a conversation lesson. The examination for the full A level will be taken in Upper Sixth (Year 13), but the school has internal exams at the end of Lower Sixth (Year 12) as well as mock examinations in January.

Entry requirements

• GCSE Maths: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • GCSE English or English Language: You must achieve a grade 7 or higher • A Level subjects: You must achieve a grade 7, 8, or 9 in your chosen A Level subjects. For some subjects, a minimum of grade 8 or 9 is required (see below) A grade 7 – 9 in GCSE Spanish is desirable.
