Study Fine Art and you’ll be introduced to a variety of experiences to explore a range of fine art media, processes and techniques - both traditional and new media - taking inspiration from the work of artists, designers, art movements and genres. You will explore the use of drawing for different purposes, using a variety of methods and media. Fine Artists explore overlapping areas and combinations, including drawing and painting, mixed-media, collage and assemblage, sculpture, ceramics, installation, printmaking and moving image & photography. This broad foundation will help improve your understanding of pictorial space, composition, rhythm, scale and structure, and develop your appreciation of colour, line, tone, texture, shape and form.
Pupils entering the sixth form are expected to have obtained ‘C’ grades in most core subjects and at least a grade B in their chosen A Level subjects. They will be expected to be able to cope with the demands of A Level courses in at least three subjects. Some A Level courses require higher GCSE grades, specific details on request from the Marketing and Admissions Team.
60% coursework 40% externally-set assignment - a ten-week preparation period followed by a fifteen-hour timed element over three days.
