The Edexcel A Level course builds on the skills developed at GCSE level and also focuses on performing, composition and listening/appraising. Just like GCSE it focuses on set works through which the skills of analysis, contextual thinking and harmonic awareness are taught. Pupils will not only leave with an A Level in Music but also a wide range of transferable skills for the future including team work, problem solving, flexibility, creativity, time management, organisation and discipline. At Ashville, pupils have the opportunity to get involved in a range of extracurricular activities including the soul band, jazz band, Ashville singers and the senior string ensemble.
Pupils wishing to study A level Music should have achieved at least a Grade 6 GCSE Music (or equivalent), and learnt an instrument or vocals to Grade 6 standard.
