Students who study Geography are very employable because of the wide skill set developed throughout the course. This course offers opportunities to learn about solving global problems such as climate change, natural hazards and overpopulation. Students will study the following topics: • Water and carbon cycles • Hazards and ecosystems under stress • Global systems and global governance • Changing places • Resource security • Glacial systems and landscapes Students complete an individual investigation, which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue defined and developed by the student relating to any part of the course content.
To help you achieve the best grades possible at A level we ask that you choose the subjects you enjoy, have an interest in and did well in at GCSE. In most cases, this means you will have achieved at least a grade 6 at GCSE in the subjects you wish to study at A level. This does not apply to all A-level subjects we offer, for example, Politics and Psychology, as it is unlikely you will have studied either at GCSE. We will discuss entry requirements in these instances with you.
• Exam 1 – Physical Geography (40%) • Exam 2 – Human Geography (40%) • Coursework – Geography Fieldwork Investigation (20%)
