There has never been a better time to study Economics. As an A Level pupil you will have access to endless comment and appreciation of the subject via the media. The financial crisis and subsequent protracted recovery of the last few years has brought into focus how the subject will affect all of our everyday lives. • Why are Starbucks coffees so expensive when coffee beans cost merely a few pence? • What determines the price that we pay for petrol at the pumps? • How assured is the UK economy’s recovery? • Are immigrants a benefit or cost to the economy? • Why does Roger Federer earn so much money each year? If you have an interest in the above questions and how the world works, then you will enjoy this subject. You will acquire analytical and critical evaluation skills along the way and you should find yourself continuously challenged as you develop your economic awareness. We hope that from the outset you will be inquisitive both inside and outside of the classroom and offer up your own ideas and experiences for re-examination throughout the course.
