Pupils will develop a working knowledge of materials, practices and technology within Art and learn the skills to interpret and convey their ideas and feelings. In the Autumn/Spring term all A Level pupils attend compulsory life drawing classes in the evening; practical artist based workshops, visits to galleries, sites of interest and cities of culture in the UK and UK residencies are integral parts of our programme.
Pupils must have attained a Grade 6 in GCSE Art and Design or present a portfolio.
Component 1 - Personal Investigation (coursework) 60% Part 1 - Practical work From personal starting points. Pupils submit: • Supporting studies • Personal outcomes Part 2 - Personal study • Pupils submit a piece of continuous prose of a minimum of 3,000 words Component 2 - Externally Set Assignment (examination) 40% An externally set, broad-based theme is released to teachers and pupils in February.
