English Literature is a popular course, with our highly experienced and enthusiastic teachers having expertise in a wide range of areas, exciting texts, open book exams. The opportunity to develop a piece of coursework at a steady pace, as well as plenty of lively discussion in friendly classes, make this A Level enjoyable for all. There are also additional opportunities such as theatre visits and a literary society. English is an eminently desirable qualification for any degree course such as Law or Business, with its focus on key skills, such as communication, interpretation, discussion and analysis.
To maximise success at A Level we recommend: • A sum of at least 30 points from the top five GCSE grades • Grade 5 in GCSE English • Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics • Grade 7* in the subjects to be studied at A Level All applications to subjects will be considered. Students are encouraged to speak with the Head of Department, Deputy Head Academic, or Sixth Form Academic Coordinator who can advise further on suitability to the A Level course. *Grade 8 for Further Mathematics.
