Course summary

Chemistry is fundamental to our world. It plays a role in everyone's lives and touches almost every aspect of our existence in some way, from healthcare to the clothes we wear. We aim to make the experience of studying Chemistry exciting, interactive and engaging and, as we develop the understanding of Chemistry within our students, we revel in uncovering the magic and mystery of the subject. A-level Chemistry is designed to be a stepping-stone to future study and develops the analytical and practical skills desired at degree level. The course’s flexibility will nurture your passion for chemistry and lays the groundwork for further study in courses such as Chemistry, Medicine and Pharmacy. Our examination results are excellent, and many of our students continue to study chemistry, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, together with other affiliated disciplines at Russell Group universities. During the A-level course, students are given the opportunity to extend themselves further through challenges such as the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.
