What will you do on this course? All BTEC Nationals provide transferable knowledge and skills that prepare learners for progression to university. The transferable skills that universities value include: The ability to learn independently. The ability to research actively and methodically. To be able to give presentations and be active group members. Learners will study six mandatory units including: Anatomy and Physiology Fitness Training Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being Professional Development in the Sports Industry Sports Leadership Skill Acquisition in Sport. And you will also study a range of optional units including Practical Sport Performance Rules, Regulations and Officiating Overall you will be immersed in the world of sport. You will sample performance, physiology, mental strength and sport as a business.
Requirements All combinations are acceptable although it is desirable to have studied Physical Education to GCSE standard. The thing I like best about studying BTEC Sport is that the course is extremely varied so no two lessons are the same. The course helps me to understand more about how we as humans function in sport which is really helpful to me as an athlete.
How will you be assessed? Most units are internally assessed. This means that your teachers set and assess the assignments that provide the final assessment of each unit. You will be given opportunities to write up the findings of your research, use case studies to explore complex or unfamiliar situations, carry out projects, and demonstrate practical and technical skills. Each external assessment for a BTEC National is linked to a specific unit. The styles of external assessment used for qualifications in BTEC Level 3 Sport are examinations and set tasks. BTEC learning has always encouraged learners to apply their learning in realistic contexts using scenarios and realistic activities that will draw on and apply their learning.
