Course summary

Learn German to A Level and equip yourself with the skills to communicate with people in German speaking countries. Studying German at A Level will give you a highly marketable skill and open possibilities to work and travel in Europe and beyond. The importance of the German Language is reflected in the fact that Germany is Europe’s dominant economy and the second largest exporting country in the world. Indeed the Confederation of British Industry rates German as one of the top two most useful languages for job applications.

How you'll be assessed

There are three exams for A level German. Paper 1 - Listening, Reading and Writing (2 hours 30 minutes - 40% of A level grade) Paper 2 - Writing (2 hours - 30% of A level) Answer two questions in German, one on a film and one on a book that you have studied in class. Paper 3 - Speaking (16 – 18 mins plus preparation time - 30 % of A level)
