At Shrewsbury High School we offer the OCR Art and Design suite at A Level. This means that students work to their strengths and develop their work in their chosen discipline(s). The aim of the course is to enable our students to learn how to develop and produce personal, creative work within the context of Art and Design, across a broad range of creative disciplines. Project planning, target setting, negotiating and designing a project from conception to outcome all feature as essential elements of the creative process. Furthermore, the course enables students to analyse their own work as well as evaluate work by other artists, designers and craftspeople.
A grade 6 or above at GCSE in any Art, Craft or Design subject. Exceptions may be made in special circumstances.
Component 1: Personal Investigation 120 marks: 60% Non-exam assessment (internally assessed and externally moderated) Component 2: Externally set task 80 marks: 40% Non-exam assessment (internally assessed and externally moderated)
