Course summary

The language element expects students to build on their GCSE skills so they can tackle the translation of Greek passages. There is greater focus on understanding the way in which the languages work and plenty of opportunity to read beyond the syllabus. Literature on the syllabus includes Sophocles, Euripides, Herodotus and Thucydides.

Entry requirements

An overall average of a grade 6 at GCSE or IGCSE in all subjects is required for entry to our Sixth Form, with a minimum of a grade 7 in the subjects you wish to study at A Level (a minimum of a grade 8 in Further Maths). In addition, you will be expected to take on greater responsibility for your own independent learning as part of the transition from life at school to university and further career.
