While studying students will: » Develop interview skills, meeting a range of local employers and discovering more about the diversification of farms in the area. » Identify land-management techniques » Further understand the role of health and safety within the industry » Get invaluable practical experience with placements on farms in the local area » Make links with future employers and higher education providers In the first year students will study: » Professional working responsibilities – enabling the health, safety, wellbeing, resource management and waste management in the land based sectors » Work experience in land based sectors - research and experiencing opportunities in the local area and developing the skills needed to attain them In the second year students will study: » Applied Agricultural Farming Practice – developing knowledge and skills relating to crop production and farm livestock systems in order to develop a farm management plan » There is an additional optional unit in which we will decide the module that is most suitable for the group either Estate Skills or Land-based Machinery operations
An interest in the agricultural industry. Passes in GCSE English and Maths are beneficial but not essential.
» Unit 1: Professional Working Responsibilities: 3 hour external exam using pre-released materials » Unit 4: Work Experience in the Land-based sectors.
