Sociology is the study of Society, the ‘social world’. Sociology looks beyond the day to day and asks what is the real nature of Society, why does it function like it does and for whose benefit? Sociology asks you to understand and apply key concepts such as power, gender, ethnicity and culture to important and topical issues such as Education, Crime and Deviance and Religion which shape the world we live in. Sociology is a rigorous academic subject that is also rooted in the real world. Studying Sociology A Level enables you to develop critical thinking skills, to analyse and interpret the world around you.
To achieve three A Levels and thrive in our Sixth Form, we expect pupils to achieve a minimum of six grade 6s at GCSE, with those looking to study Maths or Science requiring grade 7s.
Assessment will take the form of three written examinations of equal weighting.
