If you choose to study A Level Maths or Further Maths at LGS you will be taught by a very experienced team of subject specialists, each with their own level of expertise and interest in the subject. Mathematics is one of the most popular A Level choices within the School, so you’ll be taught alongside many other boys who have a variety of interests. The Department is also in the fortunate position to be able to offer Further Maths as a separate subject so you will be taught in a separate group of just Further Mathematicians. Our success at IGCSE level continues into A Level with many boys gaining As and A*s at the end of the course.
To maximise success at A Level we recommend: • A sum of at least 30 points from the top five GCSE grades • Grade 5 in GCSE English • Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics • Grade 7* in the subjects to be studied at A Level All applications to subjects will be considered. Students are encouraged to speak with the Head of Department, Deputy Head Academic, or Sixth Form Academic Coordinator who can advise further on suitability to the A Level course. *Grade 8 for Further Mathematics.
